Every brand has a story.
The story of Lunist Atelier begins with fear.

Ah Gui had worked in Hong Kong's Hung Hom jewelry district for over two decades — a seasoned jewelry designer and gemologist who had collaborated with renowned Western brands. She had a dream of building something of her own. But every time she considered taking that step, fear held her back. Fear of losing. Fear of failing. Fear of the unknown.

A Prayer That Changed Everything

One day in 2015, Ah Gui passed by a well-known Kwun Yam temple near her workplace in Hung Hom. She stepped inside, lit a stick of incense, and whispered a quiet prayer:

"Please grant me wisdom."

What followed, she could not have anticipated.

Shortly after, she discovered meditation. In her very first session, she felt a profound sense of peace and joy she had never known before. From that night onwards, she meditated every evening before sleep — listening to 432Hz frequencies, allowing her mind to return to stillness. She practised for five years, quietly and consistently.

The Voice Within

In 2020, as the pandemic reshaped the world, an old classmate from her jewelry design days reached out and asked if Ah Gui would consider starting a business together.

She thought about it for two days.

On her way home one evening, she heard a voice from deep within:

"If not now, when?"

Five years of meditation had prepared her for this moment. She took the leap.

Trials and Choices

The two partners pivoted into handcrafted accessories made from upcycled luxury goods — transforming Hermès ties, scarves, and other heritage materials into one-of-a-kind earrings, headpieces, and rings. At their best Pop-up Store, they generated over HK$10,000 in a single day. K11 Art Mall came knocking, inviting them to join as Hong Kong designers.

But Ah Gui saw clearly what others might have missed — the path ahead carried intellectual property risks, and the market was shifting. She chose integrity over opportunity, and walked away.

She continued forward, alone.

The Turning Point

At a BNI Zenith Chapter Chill Corner gathering, Ah Gui shared a frustration that had long stayed with her. A Spanish client with 500 distribution points across Europe had admired every one of her ODM designs — yet never placed an order.

A fellow member offered a quiet but powerful observation:
"Have you considered whether this person was ever truly your client?"

In that moment, something shifted.

"If my designs are good enough for 500 points in Europe — why can't those 500 points be mine?"

That thought became the seed of Lunist Atelier.

The Wisdom of I-Ching

Around the same time, Ah Gui discovered the research of Dr. Lee Ssu-Chen, former President of National Taiwan University, whose two decades of scientific study suggested that I-Ching hexagrams carry measurable energetic frequencies. Deeply moved, she sought out a BNI member whose father was the 28th-generation heir of the Fan Zhongyan lineage, and began her formal study of I-Ching.

The brand's final spark came from an unexpectedly ordinary moment: Ah Gui had sourced a small collection of beautiful fashion jewelry, taken a few casual photographs, and shared them with a BNI member who ran a beauty salon.

"What if you added I-Ching elements?" the member asked.

Lunist Atelier was born.

Lunist — Living in Rhythm with the Moon

The name comes from Luna — the moon.

The 1st of each lunar month is a Growth Day: a time for intention-setting, new beginnings, and expansion.
The 15th, when the moon is full, is a Purification Day: a time for release, clarity, and returning inward.

This wisdom was passed to Ah Gui by a teacher who practises the Medicine Buddha tradition. In her understanding, the lunar cycle is not merely an astronomical phenomenon — it is the universe's natural rhythm, available to each of us.

Lunist Atelier believes that I-Ching wisdom transcends its Eastern origins. That the Dharma knows no borders. That all paths lead to one truth.
